Kino Lorber takes three

Kino Lorber has picked up U.S. rights to a trio of Toronto alums, including "Alps," Greek helmer Yorgos Lanthimos' follow-up to "Dogtooth." Distributor also snagged two docs, Michael Glawogger's "Whores' Glory" and Corinna Belz's "Gerhard Richter Painting." All three pics were repped by Cologne-based film sales agent Match Factory. "Alps," which preemed at Venice this year just prior to a Toronto stint, centers on a group of people who offer to impersonate dead loved ones for a fee. Pic will next play AFI Fest in L.A. ahead of a Gotham bow and national release in the spring. Last year Kino Lorber released "Dogtooth," which was nommed for an Oscar. "Whores' Glory," another pic seen at both Venice and Toronto, follows sex workers in Thailand, Bangladesh and Mexico. That one will be released starting in March at Gotham's Lincoln Plaza Cinemas. "Gerhard Richter Painting," about the life and work of the prominent visual artist, also ramps up for a March release, launching at Film Forum in NY. Distribution deal was pacted by Kino Lorber's Richard Lorber with Match Factory's Michael Weber. The three films join a slate of upcoming Kino Lorber releases that also includes "Giorgio Moroder Presents Metropolis," "Khodorkovsky" and "Charlotte Rampling: The Look," among others.
