Owen Wilson to get Variety award
LONDON -- Owen Wilson is placed to get Variety's Worldwide Star of the season award in the eighth edition from the Dubai Intl. Film Festival. The award, that is given to one film professional yearly at DIFF, appreciates a thesp's contribution towards the film industry. This past year, the award visited Colin Firth, whose pic "The King's Speech" opened up last year's edition from the fest. A unique public Q&A with Wilson, named In Conversation with Owen Wilson, is going to be held throughout the path of the fest.
Wilson's credits include the 2010 "Night time in Paris," helmed by Woodsy Allen, "Wedding Crashers," "Zoolander" and "The Royal Tenenbaums," the second that they co-created and co-composed. Furthermore, DIFF has added Ben Wheatley's "Kill List" and "Kotoko," from Japanese filmmaker Shinya Tsukamoto, to the Night time Mayhem program. "Kill List," that has been popular around the festival circuit since its preem at SXSW captured, will screen on night time on 12 ,. 8 and 12 ,. 9. "Kotoko," which follows the storyplot of the deeply disturbed mother who suffers frightening double vision, will screen at night time on 12 ,. 9 and 12 ,. 10.
